The golden quarter is where your work pays you back.
Adobe expects $95.8 billion to be spent online in the month of October alone, the start of what retail calls the golden quarter. And with Prime Day kicking off on October 6, a lot of that buying mood is going to spill into every feed, whether you sell on Amazon or not.
That spillover is the halo effect I wrote about in my last newsletter, and it's bigger than Prime Day. When more people are in the market, more people are discovering, comparing, and researching what to buy, so every Reel they watch, every review they read, and every time they search your name is a chance for your brand to be the one they remember when they're ready to buy.
That's a lot of buying intent to miss if you're not in their feed.
Don't worry, there's still time to get your social ready to catch that demand and keep it working for you through Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and beyond.
3 From our blog worth reading this month
1. Let your best posts do the selling
More than half of US TikTok sales now happen in the Shop tab. People find a product, compare it, and buy it without ever leaving the app, so your posts can do the selling too. Got a post that people saved and shared a lot this year? It's already proven itself, so tag your products in it and let it sell. Read the full piece →
2. Your videos keep getting found long after you post them
More than 60% of shoppers research on YouTube before they buy, and YouTube videos show up in close to 30% of Google's AI Overviews, the AI answers at the top of a Google search. That means a video you post today can keep getting found all the way into December, as long as people actually watch it. Make videos people watch to the end. That's what tells YouTube to keep showing them. Read the full piece →
3. Make things only you can make
Honestly, I'd skip half the trends you're seeing right now. And if you keep posting the same style of video and it hasn't worked, it's probably not going to start now. Our team dug into Mintel's 2026 Global Consumer Trends report in our latest Spark Session, and people are tired of content that feels made for the algorithm instead of for them. A trend is borrowed attention. Anyone can copy it, and the reach is gone the second they do, so make content only your brand could make, because that's what keeps working long after the trend dies. 2 Industry hits we're watching
1. Food & Beverage / CPG: The golden quarter is already under way.
Of that $95.8 billion in October, Adobe expects $9.9 billion to be spent over the two days of Prime Day alone. Then the holiday season, November 1 to December 31, is forecast to bring in another $275.1 billion online. And this isn't just about one big shopping moment. Grocery is one of the fastest-growing categories at 10.3%, which suggests people are sticking with the products they already rely on, and social media's share of holiday revenue is set to rise 17%. If people already know and trust your brand, this is where you'll feel it: repeat orders, returning shoppers, and people picking you over whoever has the biggest discount.
2. Lifestyle & Wellness: Where they find you isn't always where they buy.
Nutrition Business Journal's Erika Craft said it best on New Hope's The Natural List: "the channel of discovery is not always the channel of purchase." A Pattern study of eight TikTok advertisers backs it up: about a third of the sales their ads influenced happened somewhere else, like Amazon or Shopify. That's the halo in real numbers. Expect your social to show up as sales in other places, and count all of it when you look back on this quarter.
1 The seasonal one: They're researching you right now
The golden quarter runs from Prime Day through December, and as people get closer to buying, they do more research. They're asking questions, reading reviews, and looking for a reason to trust you, because nobody wants to buy the wrong gift or waste money in the busiest shopping season of the year. Every time they see you, hear from a real customer, or find an answer that helps, the next decision gets a little easier.
So it's not enough to be seen. You need to be worth finding. If they search for you and find a quiet feed, no reviews, and no answers, they'll buy from someone else. Put your best customer content where people will see it, answer the questions they keep asking, and show up where they're already looking, so when they're ready to decide, you're the brand that already made them feel sure.
Need an extra boost? Get found. Create discoverable content for TikTok and YouTube Shorts that captures the tension and emotional buying intent hiding in your reviews, comments, and customer feedback.
I can't change what's already in motion this quarter, but I can help make sure it keeps compounding into the new year. Book a free audit and I'll show you what your social is already driving, plus a 30-day plan for your New Year reset.
