Getting likes, but no sales?

Natasha Chilcott

Hi, I'm Natasha

I'm the Director of Sales and Marketing at Marr Media Group, and I'll be the one running your audit. For over a decade I've helped DTC brands turn their socials into real revenue channels.

‍

Most of the brands I talk to already know their socials are behind. The audit shows you exactly where, and which of the 3 mistakes to fix first.

Corrections

The 3 mistakes, corrected

You read about them in The Social Experiment. Here's the short version, with the fix for each one.

Mistake 01You use organic to broadcast, not to listen.Reveal the correction ↓
The correction
Organic becomes your testing ground.

Try different hooks, angles, and formats, and watch which posts your audience actually acts on. Those are your winners.

Mistake 02You scale paid before you know who's buying.Reveal the correction ↓
The correction
Take your organic winners into paid.

Build a few versions of each winner and test them, so you only spend on content that's already proven.

Mistake 03You make costly content before you test it.Reveal the correction ↓
The correction
Push proven content to TikTok and YouTube Shorts.

Short-form video is a big investment. Build it on what already works, and it's far more likely to pay off.

Not sure which one is costing you the most? That's what the free audit is for.

What happens when you make the corrections

Here's what it looked like when three of our clients made the fixes from the newsletter, one for each mistake.

Headline 01

Snack brand stops broadcasting, starts selling

Plenty of followers, not much in the cart. A CPG snack brand had a big Instagram following and a 0% engagement rate. We audited their socials, rebuilt the strategy, and took over content and day-to-day management, and organic social became a real revenue channel.

Plain “ugly” ad beats the polished one

Polished isn't always what stops the scroll. For one of our clients, we ran a plain, text-heavy “ugly” ad in a prospecting campaign, straight against their polished, on-brand creative. It became the highest-performing ad in their entire account.

Drinkware brand takes proven Reels to TikTok

Your customers are on a platform you're not. A DTC drinkware brand had no TikTok at all. We launched it from scratch with their best-performing Reels, and it became their fastest-growing channel.

Common Questions

1. Do I have to commit to a big package right away?

+

Most brands we work with don't start on the full package and they don't need to. We start where it makes sense, earn your trust, you start seeing the impact and we grow from there together. Nobody is signing up for a year on day one.

2. How much of my team's time does this actually require?

+

Less than you'd think. We work best with a single point of contact who can get back to us within two business days for approvals and feedback. Weekly communication and a 30 minute bi-weekly call is typically all we need. The more responsive you are, the better the results.

3. How is this different from hiring someone in-house?

+

For the same monthly investment you'd pay one generalist, you're getting a full team: a strategist, creative director, content creators, a community manager and account leadership. We handle the hiring, the training and the turnover. You never have downtime. No gaps when someone goes on leave, no learning curves when someone quits. Just a full team working at full capacity, every day. We were named Canada's #1 Social Media Agency for a reason. What we do isn't revolutionary. How we do it is.

4. How quickly will we see results?

+

We spend the first 30 days on strategy so we're not just posting and hoping something sticks. Most clients start seeing meaningful movement in the first 90 days. We track everything through a live dashboard you can access at any time so you're never guessing whether it's working.

5. We have a small marketing team. Can you still work with us?

+

We work with large, mid-size and small marketing teams. And the honest thing is, most of the companies we work with don't have a dedicated social media team. They rely on their broader marketing team and that's usually why the efforts miss the mark. Social media is all we do. We have a dedicated team staying on top of the latest trends, algorithm changes and every native platform day in and day out. That's the difference.

Common Questions

FAQ 5: What should brands change in their content strategy?

+

They should stop posting for presence and start testing for performance, focusing on hooks, angles, and formats that earn attention and convert into owned audiences like email.

FAQ 1: Are social media algorithms still the main driver of reach?

+

No. Platforms are shifting control to users. People can now filter, prioritize, and reduce what they see, which means audience preference matters more than algorithmic distribution.

FAQ 3: How do Instagram, TikTok, and Threads let users control what they see?

+

Instagram lets users edit recommendation topics, TikTok offers topic controls and keyword filters, and Threads allows temporary preference signals that reshape feeds.

FAQ 2: What does user-controlled feeds mean for brands?

+

It means visibility is no longer guaranteed by posting consistently. If your content is not engaging, users can quietly remove it from their feed without unfollowing.

FAQ 4: Why is follower count becoming less important?

+

Because users can stay following a brand but stop seeing its content. Reach now depends on relevance and engagement, not just audience size.

Vanity Metrics
The Dawn of Social – 2026

In life, they made everyone feel good and proved very little. They are survived by Saves, Shares, and DMs, the metrics that actually tell you something. A private service will be held in a slide titled “Engagement Overview” that nobody reads.

Social That Doesn’t Sell
The “Brand Awareness” Era – 2026

Died after a long career of being “great for visibility.” It posted daily, celebrated every national holiday ever invented, and never once asked anyone to buy anything. It is survived by Social That Sells. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you add UTM parameters to everything.

Only Replying to Questions
The Customer Service Inbox Era – 2026

Died after years of answering “What are your hours?” and ignoring everything else. It is survived by Community Management, which shows up, joins the conversation, and actually gets to know people. In lieu of flowers, go reply to that tag from last week.
